Fair Trade Management

Bachelor of Agri Systems Management

Introduction

Make a difference

The world seems to become smaller day by day. A wide range of exotic fruits and vegetables, cocoa and tea, are available right at your doorstep. Farmers meet demands of distant customers. Supermarkets that want their mangoes to ripen at exactly the right time. Consumers buy special blends of coffee from all over the world and all at affordable prices. At the same time, issues of food safety and the natural environment are at stake.

Rural farming families who depend on local, regional and global markets have to meet certain requirements. Requirements they were unfamiliar with until recently: product standards related to all kinds of quality attributes, food safety regulations, timely deliveries of substantial volumes and demanding certification procedures. The big question is: can small farmers live up to these demands and do smallholder farming families get a fair share of the profits?

Fair Trade Management brings these two worlds together. Connecting people, organisations and businesses will be the core of the programme and thus they will become your qualities in the future. You develop a strong commitment to promote equitable trade and fair economic development.
